The Holiday is such a great movie! I usually don’t like movies like that (loooove, kissing and all that stuff), but I really like this one ;)

Hello, wonderful sweetheart! I am watching the Holiday tomorrow duirng a day! :) Decided to treat myself to a day time movie :))) I ABSOLUTELY ADORE (I’d use even bigger letters here, but can’t) Cameron’s wardrobe in that movie. From the moment she is on the plane and then arrives to England, so chic, in her fabulous heels, trying to find that tiny house… :) Oh, you know, it’s somewhere not far from where I live. I think we even visited that place once, long time ago and I didn’t really take a notice, but later I was told that the house was somewhere over there. This is one of the reasons I like England (especially South East, i.d. Surrey, Sussex and Kent) – you visit places and then learn that somebody lived there or it was in a movie. I really hope you could visit me here some day, I’d love to take you to some of my favourite spots. They just give you this feeling of being closer to the history…
Do you realise that this is yet another movie that will always make me think of you from now on? :)

I love your Christmas list. :) Especially, the flats, the shoes and the blouse. I also adore the flower hair band, but don’t think I’d be able to pull it off since I am no taller than a bedside table… Dwarf with a flower on her head… :) But you are so tall and it will look soooooooooooooooooooooo gorgeous on you, with black hair and your amazing face.

Well, I am off for tonight. :)

Big big big hug from me and hello from Oscar.

That “Have yourself a Merry little Christmas” always brings tears to my eyes, no idea why… I also like “All I want for Christmas is you”. I think because I know the words and can sing along :)))

  6. Hi Sofie! Love these luscious photos. Yes, I saw this movie some time ago and loved it. I want to steal her closet!

Congrats on the Givenchy score. It’s beautiful.

Hope you’re having a lovely weekend! It’s raining here in NYC :(

  7. Ahhh the Holiday! I think I might watch it tonight!

Sofie, darling, I just received your sweet letter (can’t even call it “a comment”) and reaised that this Lanvin dress is the same Lanvin you were talking on your blog about some time ago. And I am being such a silly tart not to say anything and not even say “congratulations”. SO SORRY!!! Better late then never, right? Congratulations, sweetheart!

And I also wanted to say that you are my angel and thanks so much for thinking of me – you don’t even know me and you are there with this top secret present for me. You truly are a magic Christmas angel. :) I promise not to open the box, I’ll do my best anyway.

You know, I googled that village last night, it’s called Shere and apparently Bridget Jones movie was also filmed there (I think it’s the church part). And yes, I have visited that village before (without having a faintest idea WHAT village it was! Told you sometimes I am such a silly creature!) I even went to the church and played piano there (the church was empty, so I didn’t feel too embarassed to do a bit of Für Elyse (Beethoven is one of my favourite favourite favourite composers) So now we are going to go back to that place over Christmas break, after I watched both movies again… It will be so exciting.
You know, Four Weddings and a Funeral was also filmed somewhere nearby. And Pride & Prejudice (with Keira), too. They used Groombridge place, it’s a big beautiful house, but nobody lives there any more. It’s surrounded by a massive forest (called Enchanted Forest) and a beautiful very English garden where you can just relax and watch peacocks :) (I adore them as long as they are quiet). Arthur Conan Doyle stayed there once and used that place as one of the locations in his books. And of course you’d have to see Churchill’s house and his rose garden and Kipling’s house, too. So there will be loads for you to see. :) And the best thing is that these places are so close to where we are, you just drive there, spend a few hours to get all emotional and inspired and go back home. :)

Oscar’s been an angel all morning (he says hi to you and Wolke) until the last 15 minutes when he managed to steal one of my bed socks and ate 1/3 of it… :( Better go and keep him busy…

P.S. Wanted to ask you if you’d like a copy of UK Vogue Jan 2010. There is an interview with Isabel Marant in it and the whoe issue is quite good. Let me know if you want it and I’ll post a copy to you asap.

    Have a wonderful day!!!

how nice this post, very original and creative! you have done such a great research work , thanks for giving us all these news and videos, and all the links to reach the websites … incredible! … I don’t think this movie is already out in Italy…I’m looking forward to see it!
I’m lucky to have bloggers friends like you, because you give me always a lot of positive energy and a reason to continue to appreciate the crazy world of fashion, your great choices of style are a ray of light for me!

Awwwwwwww, Sofie… Just got your message. Now I am going to lose my sleep and just sit quietly near the window waiting for the postman with a parsel from my angel. :) Thank you, sweetheart! I don’t know how I even deserve you. I finally found the missing part of your gift, too. And because Santa seems to be held up at Heathrow customs, you will most likely receive everything by New Years Eve (keep fingers crossed). :)

The movie was wooooooooonderful. I think I am going to watch a movie a day, every day, until Christmas.

Also fell in love with yet another dress, but not sure if I should get it since I spent all my budget on the shoes…. I am sleeping on it and if I still want it tomorrow I will probably get it. It’s VERY simple, looks like a vest (t-shirt) but a long one since it’s a dress :) and it’s A-shaped with the hem cut at an angle, so one side of it is shorter than the other. Midnight blue silk. Above the knee…. Somehow it reminded me of one of the older Calvin Klein collections, when they still had Natalia V as a model. I can almost picture myself wearing it with sandals or flats and a statement long necklace as a casual thing or my pretty crystal shoes (I should really show you some of my shoes… they aren’t as fabulous as yours, though… but still, very beautiful :) )

Oscar is finally sleep… He is such a hypo!!! 8-0 And is always happy to get a hug from you. :)

How’s your book-keeping? Hope it’s all done now. Are you still busy working or can relax? Have you got the tree and all the pretty bits and pieces yet? We are decorating everything next weekend. I bet you, Oscar is going to try stealing some of the decorations… :)))

Big kiss to you and little adorable Wolke. Is he coming to England with you? He could meet my Teddy Bears. Some of them are German, so they can have a chat without any problems. :)

If you are reading it tonight, then I wish you sweet dreams and if it’s already tomorrow, then have a beautiful day!!!

    Big big big big hug!

Well, the thing is – they’re celebrating with us ;D So I’ll still get her absolutely delicious ham…
School ends on Friday! You know what that means? No homework this week! :D
The test went REALLE well, actually. I got an A ;)

Sending you big hugs from the even colder Sweden!

    LOVE!

Thanks Sofie for the link to that Lanvin Leopard dress!! Ohhhhh it was soooooo tempting, so very hard to resist not clicking on the ‘add to cart’ button. It’s such a beautiful chic dress isn’t it? Sadly not my size…or else I would have began spinning 101 reasons and excuses why I need to buy a 1k+ dress!

    Hello my gorgeous Angel!
How are you today? Warm and happy? So what are you getting for xmas from your family? I can imagine you giggling there because you know their secret now. :)))

I agree with you about Sasha P. She knows how to tie a scarf and got this unique “i don’t care what you think” chic style. You know this year I somehow saw her in a different light. I always liked her because she is Russian and I like more or less all Russian models anyway, but this year I sort of noticed her again and began to adore her. Oh, back to the scarves and her style. I really like it how she uses a large Russian shawl wrapping it around her waist, so it looks like a skirt. Have you seen those pics of her? It looks like this

    http://www.stpetersburger.com/html/cashmere_shawls_1.html

Sienna used to wear a similar one as a shawl a few years ago. Do you like them? I have one, too and since it was super cold and snowing today I decided to wear it instead of my regular pashmina. I make it into a big white shawl collar and it looked really nice and kept me warm.
My mum bought it for me a few years ago and today I was missing her so much and needed to feel her presense, so the shawl helped, it was like a hug. They are unique, these shawls. They are knitted by little old grannies. My gran use to knit them, too. You know, the collect the wool, then make it into yarn and knit. Actually, I think I should really blog about it, so I can put photos and write about the history.

If you like such a shawl, please, please, please, let me know and I will get my mum to send me one next time she sends me something. It’s timeless and incredibly warm.

Sof, please post a pic of your Givenchy dress…. pretty please… Soooooooo want to see it. It is more for spring/summer? Nude shades will look so beautiful with your skin tone and your hair. You will look like a Greek Goddess, darling! Just need some sandals.

Oh, mine are still arriving, btw. Can’t wait to see and try them on.

That white shirt and blue jeans outfit you described is my favourite look! I like to wear this simple outfit and add slighly dressier sandals to it. I’ve got a pair of sandals with tiny suede flowers and beads on them. They are ancient and I absolutely adore them.

Just googled Tom Binns. Wow… I love his Read Deal cuffs!!! They are probably very expensive since it’s a ton of 18k gold in them, but oh, so beautiful… Didn’t you want his skull and crystals cuff once? I have a feeling I saw it on your blog before…

Hermes was one of my favourite shows (and I loved ss 2009, too and some winter pieces). If I could wear these clothes I would 10000%. That particular outfit is so so so sooooo beautiful… I was thinking about a white skirt last summer but it didn’t happen, because, well, Oscar happened and then the whole summer was about him and not white clothes. :))) This year I may look for one… Before I quite fancied a D&G white mini (i know what a cliche I am!), not a pensil type, but more of a full skirt, but it was super sale and my size wasn’t available. :( Still… I have a white dress, which will work well if skirt isn’t there.

And talking of Wimbledon. Did you watch the movie? It’s one of my favourites. It’s so easy to watch and it’s in England. :) As for the movie for today… I haven’t decided yet, sweet. My day somehow went from ok to really …. (insert one of those bad words I wouldn’t dare using here), so I cried a bit and then S got home and things got better, and then I got your message and Anya’s, too, so I sort of feel a lot alot ALOT better as if this heavy load suddenly fell off my shoulders. Now I am ready for a movie. :) What about you? What are you busy with this week? I wish I could catch you on FB or skype some time. LOVED talking to you.

And 10000000% year to gelato coloured dresses! :) Those pistachios and roses are so yummy. I wish Burberry wasn’t so expensive… (Or even better I wish I could have loads and loads of clients and a nice salary, so that I could spend some of it on beautiful things… :) Still, am working on the last bit, so hopefully things will start moving for me soon) Helena Christensen is wearing a BP green number on a cover of UK ELLE… and BP shoes, you know, grey soft leather, platform and wrap around ankle straps… So beautiful. Do you want a copy? You still didn’t tell me if you’d like a copy of Vogue….

Have a wonderful evening, honey! And stay warm.

Kisses (including one from Oscar, the pupster who saw (and tasted) his very first snow today) and a big hug :)

    Love,
    N

Sweetheart, I suddenly thought that you may get worried after reading that I had a bad day… So just a quick note to say that things are alright now.
By the way, decided to watch Love Actually tonight. Oscar is sleeping next to me and everything feels like it should.
    Good night, honey!

Hi Angel, how are you today? I will do my best to keep it short tonight – I just noticed that my comments are soooooooo long…. :)))

Thank you for your sweet note on my blog. You know I’ve got so many editorial pictures it’s almost insane. Sometimes I wonder how my poor pc copes with my “collection”. I am doing over the knee boots tomorrow and am struggling to choose the best of the best when it comes to editorials. :) I think I’ll only use 2009/10 ones or it will be too much. :)

By the way, if you ever need any photos for your ebay shop and you can’t find any – let me know. It’ll be my pleasure to share pics with you.

    Talk to you tomorrow, sweetheart!

Good night, big hug and lots of little kisses from me and Oscar.

    Sofie!

I’m so glad I decided to check on my blog, even though I haven’t updated in years. I sure as hell missed you.
I’ve been doing just fine. A lot has happened, I don’t even know where to start. But the main things are: School, school, school (I’m turning into a nerd, I’m telling ya!). Oh well, as long as I pass my exams, I’m a happy girl. And ofcourse I have to do a lot for my art portfolio, because I want to study arts. (I’m working on an online portfolio: http://www.rachelyves.com ). If I have to be honest, I do feel tired of it sometimes. It just gets too much from time to time. Lately more than ever. It must be the winterblues, I guess. As I’m typing this, I’m literally stuffing myself with marshmellow, drowning in selfsorrow, you know? The moment I start stuffing myself it’s clear to me that it’s become winter. And it’s all white outside. Which I love, unless I have to go outside.
You really saw Ray Charles? Oh man, you’re one lucky woman!
I really do love the gifts you bought yourself! I’m going to buy myself some gifts this afternoon.

How have you been doing? Please try to find the time to update me. I’ve really missed you, and your wonderful stories.

    Lots and lots of love,
    Rachel.

What a wonderful, thoughtful, beautifully put together post!

I loved this film & it’s funny that you’ve put style inspirations: when Cameron D was in LA in the start, she went outside her house in a pair of white pajamas (which was meant to be funny) & I was thinking, those look so cozy, I want them. Turns out they were by the White Company, and discontinued, but I found them on eBay, lost them to a higher bidder, HE put them back on eBay (said they didn’t fit – I assume, his girlfriend) & I’ve been the proud owner of them for several years now. In fact I’m wearing the top as we speak ; )

That film shows England in such a good light, but for me, it made me want to live in LA for a while, too.

Anyway, just came here to say Merry Christmas as I haven’t commented in a while, and instead, got such a treat! Can’t wait to play all my favourites. Actually you’ve inspired me to do a post with some Christmas carols…

    xoxo
