Shaun Leane Traditional craftsmanship

“Shaun Leane is a London-based jewellery designer.

Over a thirteen year period he was immersed in the craft of goldsmithing, fashioning delicate antique pieces and using precious metals and stones. He took a break from work to take a formal course at Sir John Cass College in East London, where he studied fine art and silver smithing.

Later, he set up an independent practise in London’s Hatton Garden. In 1991 he began a valueable partnership with Alexander McQueen, producing a number of pieces for McQueen’s second runway show “Highland Rape”. As the extravagance and scale of McQueen’s catwalk presentation grew, so did the scale and elaboration of Leane’s creations – to a scale that could be described as full body sculpture. Leane drwas his inspiration from street culture, the club scene and urban life.

He aims to encompass values of strenght, confidence and beauty into his work, and produce pieces that don’ just function accessoiries, but say something about the individiual wearing them.

Clients include Kate Moss, Liv Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, David Beckham, Cameron Diaz, David Bowie, Bjork…” and many more.

Hot or not – the high waisted pants….

Could they be both a blessing and a curse??

I’m feeling a little bit uncomfortable about the return of the high waisted pants…I’ve purchased a high waisted jeans once – just to feel like my mom (she is still wearing them sometimes…), so I gave them away asap.

It seems we’ve gone from the sometimes unsavory low-cutted pants to the not even always coaxingly high-waisted jeans and pantskirts.
One of the earlybirds is Chloé Sevigny who is cutting the edge by wearing her beloved high waisted pants since years now. She looks quite cute in them.
On the other hand a very well proportionated Scarlett Johanson is giving us an impressing example of a better-not

What about you?

Crocodile Dundee is my best friend for Fall….

Today I’ve thought of calling my good old friend Crocodile Dundee who is in the Australian outback right now.
Maybe he could bring some wonderful handbags with him…

The most hottest accessoiries for fall are generally made of alligator or other exotic animal skin. By having a look at the latest VOGUE I felt in love with this large black alligator Hermes Birkin bag immediately.

Unfortunately (and not necessary to mention at all) this bag is out of reach for almost anybody

- instead of insanely rich and double face lifted housewives….

To the 10th anniversary of Gianni Versace’s death

“Jessica Alba, Claudia Schiffer and Rupert Everett were among celebrities attending a ballet performance at La Scala in memory of Gianni Versace, the Italian designer murdered 10 years ago.

The ballet Sunday night was the highlight of a series of events marking the anniversary of Versace’s death.

Called “Thank you, Gianni, with love,” the ballet was written by choreographer Maurice Bejart, who enjoyed a long professional collaboration and close friendship with Versace. It featured stage costumes designed by Versace over the years, as well as some created for the occasion by his sister Donatella, who took over design at the fashion house upon his death.

Other celebrities attending the red-carpet event were Naomi Campbell, designer Karl Lagerfeld and French director Claude Lelouch. Donatella Versace showed up with her daughter, Allegra Beck Versace.

Versace was gunned down at age 50 outside his oceanfront mansion in Miami Beach, Florida, on July 15, 1997, by Andrew Cunanan, who killed himself a few days later.”
